Skin Hydrating Oil

An intensely nourishing treatment for dry, dull, flaky and dehydrated skin.  Our combination of essential oils and plant extracts deliver hydration to the skin leaving it feeling deliciously supple, soft and replenished.

Recommended for all skin types specifically dry, sensitive, mature skin prone to dehydration.

Directions for Use:  Use morning and evening after toning and before moisturising.  Apply 5 drops into the palms of your hands and breathe in its therapeutic aroma.  Gently massage into the face, neck and décolleté in upward circular movements using your fingertips.  For best results use daily.

Bespoke:  For very dry, dehydrated skin use daily by adding a few drops to your Africology Moisturiser or Night Cream.

Our skincare expert's super tip:  Use as a treatment twice a week to combat areas of extreme dehydration and dryness by adding a few drops to your Africology Exfoliating Cream.  Jojoba beads nourish whilst gently exfoliating the skin, removing dull, dead cells.  This allows our Skin Hydrating Oil to deliver hydration to the deeper layers of the skin.

Key Ingredients:

Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil - jojoba oil is extracted from the seeds of the evergreen jojoba shrub.  It is actually not an oil but rather a liquid wax.  Unlike other vegetable oils, jojoba oil is closely matched to the skin’s own sebum, a waxy substance produced by our sebaceous (oil) glands.  It is a light, non-comedogenic oil with excellent emollient, hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties making it ideal for acne-prone, dry and sensitive skin.

Rosa rubiginosa seed oil - rosehip seed oil is an excellent source of vitamin A and C.  Vitamin C helps reduce the appearance of dark spots, age spots and hyperpigmentation.  Rosehip seed oil works particularly well on dry skin as it's a powerful emollient and moisturiser.  It penetrates the skin easily and has antioxidant, diuretic and astringent properties.  It is a natural exfoliant that has the ability to boost skin regeneration and elasticity.

Sclerocarya birrea (marula) seed oil - called “miracle oil,” marula is extracted from the kernel of the marula fruit and is considered one of Africa’s botanical gems.  Rich in antioxidants including vitamin c and e, it helps protect against free radical damage and promotes the production of collagen and elastin.  It contains high levels of essential fatty acids, like omegas-6 and -9, that help keep the skin nourished and reduce redness through their anti-inflammatory properties.  It is light and quickly absorbed by the skin so won’t clog your pores.  It is antimicrobial and non-comedogenic, making it ideal for treating acne blemishes and scarring.  It helps keep the skin hydrated by preventing trans-epidermal water loss.

Boswellia carteri (frankincense) oil - frankincense has been used during meditation and as a cosmetic ingredient for centuries.  Its earthy, woody aroma helps calm the body and mind.  It is an effective sedative that induces feelings of peace and mental relaxation whilst relieving anxiety and stress.  It beneficial to the skin as it promotes cellular regeneration and health, calms and soothes the skin and reduces the appearance of scars and stretch marks.

Citrus aurantium amara (neroli) oil - neroli oil is extracted from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree. Used regularly as part of a skin care routine, it boosts skin health by stimulating cell regeneration and improving skin elasticity.  It helps soften wrinkles and stretchmarks.  Great for relieving sunburn and as a post-operative scar treatment.  In aromatherapy, neroli is valued for its soothing properties – it helps relieve stress and creates a feeling of calm and restfulness.  It is effective for the alleviation of digestive issues such as colitis, digestive spasms and indigestion.

Aloe ferox - aloe ferox is a succulent native to southern Africa.  This stemless plant has thick, full leaves with serrated edges. The leaves contain a gel with a variety of uses which include calming, soothing and hydrating sunburnt, irritated and sensitised skin.  It is rich in nutritional and healing compounds and minerals, amino acids, lipids, monosaccharides, phytosterols, vitamins E, B, C & zinc. It has anti-inflammatory properties and aids in reducing scar tissue.  It helps in the treatment of psoriasis, eczema, burns and facial oedema. It is a natural astringent and oxygenator (drawing and holding oxygen in the skin), stimulates cell regeneration and helps replenish lost moisture.
