Aspalathus linearis (green rooibos) leaf extract - green rooibos is harvested from its natural South African mountainous habitat. It naturally contains alpha-hydroxy acid, a compound that is beneficial for maintaining healthy skin, and is rich in iron, potassium, copper, manganese, magnesium, calcium, zinc and sodium. It has fantastic antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It is useful in treating skin problems such as eczema, nappy rash and acne. It has a soothing effect on the skin.
Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil - olive oil is extracted from the fruit of the evergreen olive tree. It is made up largely of the vitamin E rich fatty acid, oleic acid, which nourishes dry, rough skin. It’s humectant actions attract moisture to the skin and aid in the repair of sun damaged tissues. Olive oil is an excellent source of plant-based squalene, a common lipid produced by skin cells. Squalene is a natural part of sebum that lubricates the skin, prevents moisture loss and performs as an emollient and skin protector. Squalene supports the delivery of oxygen to skin cells and the removal of waste. A squalene deficiency may result in dry, dehydrated skin. Olive oil’s antioxidant benefits help repair damage to the skin.
Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter) - derived from the kernel (found within the nuts) of the African Shea Tree, this precious oil is comprised of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids and is a rich source of vitamins A, E and F. It helps retain moisture as well as minimises water loss by forming a barrier on the surface of the skin. It is a soothing emollient with anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe itchy, sensitive and sunburnt skin. It helps nourish dry, dehydrated skin and protects against environmental factors like the sun by absorbing UVB rays.
Aloe ferox leaf extract - aloe ferox is a succulent native to southern Africa. This stemless plant has thick, full leaves with serrated edges. The leaves contain a gel with a variety of uses which include calming, soothing and hydrating sunburnt, irritated and sensitised skin. It is rich in nutritional and healing compounds and minerals, amino acids, lipids, monosaccharides, phytosterols, vitamins E, B, C & zinc. It has anti-inflammatory properties and aids in reducing scar tissue. It helps in the treatment of psoriasis, eczema, burns and facial oedema. It is a natural astringent and oxygenator (drawing and holding oxygen in the skin), stimulates cell regeneration and helps replenish lost moisture.
