Essential oils are highly aromatic essences found in the seeds, stems, roots, needles, flowers, bark and other parts of certain plants. They are highly concentrated compounds that give plants their unique smell, aid in protection and plant pollination.
Essential oils are extracted by steam or water distillation or by use of a solvent. Citrus fruit oils are generally extracted by cold pressing the rinds (peel) of the fruit.
Each essential oil offers unique properties to treat mind, body and spirit in a wide variety of applications.
Africology uses only the most carefully distilled oils, making sure that their purity is unaffected by additives or dilution.
Geranium is a perennial shrub with small pink flowers that is native to South Africa. Geranium oil has a sweet, floral aroma and is extracted from the stems and leaves through steam distillation.
In aromatherapy, geranium oil is used to uplift the mood, relieve anxiety, lessen fatigue, and promote emotional wellness. It is one of the best oils for use on oily or congested skin. It has a soothing effect on sensitive skin prone to inflammatory skin conditions.
Recommended during times of anxiety, stress and exhaustion. Great for use on oily congested skin.
Directions for Use: Pure essential oils should not be applied directly to the skin but diluted first. Mix up to 5 drops of pure essential oil per 10mls of base oil or lotion.
Bath - Add 8-10 drops of essential oil to your bath, carefully mix the water to allow the oil to properly disperse.
Steam inhalation - Add 3-5 drops of pure essential oil to a bowl of very hot (but not boiling) water. Place your head over the bowl, approximately 30 cm away and inhale the vapour for 5-10 minutes. Alternatively, add 1-2 drops of essential oil to a tissue and inhale – perfect when you’re away from home.
Oil Burner - Fill the oil receptacle of your Africology Aromatherapy Oil Burner with water and add a few drops of essential oil, place a lit tea candle underneath the bowl. The aroma will fill the room as the water and essential oils evaporate as steam.
